Making Sense in the Movies

I love movies, but sometimes I want something that gives me another window on what a movie is about. This book discusses lots of movies, lots of different kinds of movies, and makes sense out of them in ways I would never have thought of. The writing is lively and light; the "moral" of the stories is laid out in ways I could understand. The Greeks only had plays, not movies, but I bet old Aristotle would have liked finding out how his theory works for modern cinema and not just classic tragedy or comedy.

I read this book while taking an Ethics of Film class, and let me tell you it was great! I have never been a very big fan of ethical theory, and I often found it to be dull and boring. However after reading this book I took a new liking to ethics, and saw some of my favorite movies in a totally new light!

Slow To Start But Still Worth Reading

This was Ms. Andersen's first story and although it was slow to start it is still a good story. More suspense then Romance but the story is still very good.
This is a story about a serial killer that is killing dancers in Reno. Amanda is a friend of one of his victims and is forced to identify her body. Tristan is a Seattle cop that has been brought to Reno to head the task force. He does not know how to handle himself around beautiful women and is shy. These two people have a hard time coming together but they finally do despite the fact or because of the fact that the killer has decided to worship or idol Amanda.
As stated earlier and by other reviewers this story was slow going and it took over 100 pages for the two main characters to even warm up to each other. This is really more of a suspense novel with a little romance on the side. Don't look for this book to be like Ms. Andersen's later books. Still this was a good story worth the time it took to read it.

Sexy and good for a quick read.

I found Shadow Dance to be an unusual kind of murder-thriller in that it involves just as much sex and romance as murder and mystery. A crazed killer is mutilating and murdering show girls at casinos around Reno.
Scot-American detective, Tristan MacLaughlin, is sent from Seattle to help the local police with their investigations and meets, and clashes head-on with Amanda Charles, a tall, beautiful dancer with a definite touch of class, and the sparks between them start to fly at once.
When Amanda's life is threatened, Tristan moves in with her as her bodyguard and the inevitable love affair begins. The mystery aspect of the book is negligible as the murderer is easily spotted and the book really revolves around the sexual tension between them. M/S Andersen writes very well about the sex part and, perhaps in later books, she will hone her skills as a mystery writer.

strong blending of mystery and romance

Experienced with ending the careers of serial killers, Seattle detective Tristan MacLaughlin is sent to Reno to head the task force trying to stop the Show Girl Slayer who has killed three local chorus line dancers. Tristan finds himself not wanting the job because he detests hoofers believing they are high-class hookers.

Dancing has been Amanda Rose Charles' life, however currently she is afraid of the killer who murdered a close friend. When Amanda meets Tristan, they immediately share a mutual dislike for one another. He thinks she is a whore and she believes he is a terse egotist. As they become acquainted, they begin to realize their stereotyping is way off base. Tristan sees refined elegance and Amanda observes a caring soul. Soon the couple falls in love, but the show stopping Show Girl Slayer still stalks the ballrooms.

Albeit a serial killer thriller, the lead couple's distinct and opposite personalities turn SHADOW DANCE into a strong police procedural romance. The investigation is fun to follow, but the relationship between the cop and the dancer lightens yet also intensifies the mood, which leads to the chase to stop the killer seemingly real. Readers will adore the intrepid yet reticent Tristan and cherish the lively Amanda. Though a reprint of Susan Anderson's debut novel, the tale remains a strong blending of mystery and romance that fans of both genres will appreciate.

Sidney Levy has been associated with the general contracting business for 40 years, working on projects ranging from residential high-rises to pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. He is the author of eleven books pertaining to project management, subcontracting, the Japanese construction industry, and international infrastructure. Mr. Levy currently is the principal in a construction consulting business in Baltimore, Maryland where he resides.

His experience as a land developer and builder makes his contribution to this book extremely valuable. A good and affordable introduction to extrusion.

I am a Process Technician at a plastics compounding company. I ordered this book when I first was hired because I came from a molding company and needed to quickly grasp extrusion principles. This book was one of the few that I could find that was affordable. It provided me with a good understanding of extrusion.

Good book

This is an excellent book describing the fundamentals of plastics extrusion. Its only shortcoming--if you care to call it that--is its reliance on the most common thermoplastics to describe all plastics extrusion. In defense of the authors, they did state that caveat. I have given it 5 stars but I only studied about half of the material in the book, and do not feel qualified to rate the other half, specifically the chapters around heat transfer, downstream equipment, design and integration, computer control, and plant design. Someone with more experience around that might give the prospective buyer a better picture.

This book makes flower making easy for even the simplest minded. It has wonderful color illustrations and detailed step by step instructions. Only a couple of times near the end of the book did I find missing steps, but by then, if you read the rest of the book, those steps would have already been imbedded in your head as something you would automatically do.

I have not used this book yet, it was purchased because I was reminded of the nylon flowers I made as a small child. It I could make these flowers at age 10 any adult should be able to make them using these instructions.

Wonderful Dive Into Emotions, Food and Connecting with Your True Self

I bought the eBook version of this and have read it twice already. It is extremely helpful if you have any emotional connection with food and it had a plethora of ways to deal with and overcome eating issues. You will write your Optimal Vision for your life - which was not only fun, but enlightening. You will also compose an eating plan (very helpful) and have TONS of resources and recommendations to assist you on your journey to Raw Food and also make it an enriching experience.

I think Angela's writing style is wonderful because you can truly tell that it is coming from her heart - she is passionate about this lifestyle and truly wants to help others. It is also very nice to know that she has gone through the transition and the sidebars from her own experience are really great and inspiring.

Much more than a book, it's a work of art!

You gotta love an author who hopes her book will be obsolete soon. Angela Stokes writes from the heart and sincerely wants her readers to succeed in healthier food choices and happier lives. Her vision is a world where people look at this book and say, "Was there really any other way to eat?" The unique aspect of 'Raw Emotions' is that the author highlights certain key words in different colors. The vibrancy of the words jump right off the page and will get you excited to start transforming your life. Angela gives you questions to contemplate, mind-mapping exercises and loads of resources. Just having this book around and looking at the front cover makes me want to eat healthier!

As an energetic speaking coach, I know that people in the audience look at the vibrancy of the person speaking. Detoxing from emotional baggage and having a healthy diet are the foundation not only for your personal life, but your business life as well. This book will help you in ways you might not expect.

Angela is brilliant, beautiful and authentic. She is one of the most amazing success stories I have ever seen!!! She knows her stuff and not only does she know it she has tried, experimented and mastered raw food living. She is a pure radiant Goddess who embodies all that she knows!!!

I loved this book because she really gets into the emotional part of eating. The reasons why we eat, how to connect to our emotions and live an optimal life! Being healthy isn't just about nutrition, there are so many other factors at play. And, Angela knows; she has done the work losing over 160 lbs! WOW, Go Angela, Go Angela! :)

So, if you want to learn how to nourish your mind, body and heart this book is a fabulous yummy guide!! :)
