About the Author

Dr. Dara Childs is professor of mechanical engineering at Texas A&M University (TAMU) in College Station, Texas. He has been director of the TAMU Turbomachinery Laboratory since 1984. He has received several best-paper awards, is an American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) life fellow, and received the ASME Henry R. Worthington medal for outstanding contributions in pumping machinery. He is the author of many conference and journal papers plus two prior books. Dr. Childs has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in dynamics and vibrations since 1968: Colorado State University (1968–1971), University of Louisville (1971–1980), TAMU (1980–present).

Andrew P. Conkey received his PhD from Texas A&M University (TAMU) in 2007, where his research was in the application of the fiber Fabry–Perot interferometer to machinery/vibration measurements. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from TAMU–Kingsville. He has over 16 years of teaching experience, having taught at TAMU–Kingsville, TAMU–College Station, TAMU–Qatar, and TAMU–Corpus Christi. In addition to teaching, he has worked for a refinery, a fiber-optic sensor company, and an engineering consulting firm.

A coherent and consistent approach to study Dynamics

This book is a highly valuable addition to the challenging subject of Dynamics. The book utilizes the differential equations of motion as the main tool to formulate, derive, analyze and predict the particle and rigid body planar motion. This approach is the only correct and reliable approach for studying dynamics, in contrast to the mainly geometrical and mostly algebra based approach, which does not lead to complete understanding, and more crucially, generalization of approach. The book is a valuable source for both the students and practicing engineers. The book has a large number of detailed solved examples and generous amount of practice problems, besides the concise theory for formulation of solutions.

The study of dynamics needs a complete overhaul and innovation from the current practice in undergraduate studies which treats the dynamics problems at different instants of time to the one formulating the entire problem in a set of differential equations of motion which yields, as its solutions, the smooth functions of time, to better understand the system's behavior over a period of time and the evolution of motion. The textbook accomplishes this task admirably and shows the pathway for the study of dynamics at undergraduate level to be followed in future all around the world. As does the admirable textbooks written by James H. Williams (MIT)(Fundamentals of Applied Dynamics) and Analytical Dynamics (Haim Baruh).

This book is a must for any owner or manager of an equine breeding facility. It is technical, but relatively easy to read and complete. Whether you're an expert whose been in the business for years or a novice just getting started, this is the primer you've been looking for. It's one you'll want to keep handy for looking up answers to new questions or reviewing the answers to your old ones. Kudos to the author for a job well done. It's worth noting that no matter what breed of horses you work with, you will still find this reference invaluable.

Excellent Update

This is an excellent update to the previous edition and a good substitute during the long awaited update of McKinnon and Voss's "Equine Reproduction". Although it does not go deeply into the research, it has ample references for those who wish to get more information. I highly recommend it as a reference for all equine reproductive clinicians and technicians.

Sweet, faith related book with love and coffee included ;)

Five Coffees consists of a beautiful relationship between two people who know their own limits and commitments.

Luke, the honourable and hardworking actor. Married and with a wife and son at home, he is deeply in love with but cant deny the feelings he has for this woman who has helped him in his acting career over the last week in her company.

Tavora who is still struggling after the losses and heartbreak she has endured, feels this draw to the man who asked her for help in knowing more about her town. To better invest himself in his acting role.

Neither knew what the break week from filming would hold other than hours spent together daily and both recognising what the other has to face and both teaching one another inadvertently...

Excerpt:
...He wanted to help her and, being Luke, the thought and sight of another human being in pain distressed him. He was ready to remedy that.

As Luke prepares to leave Tavoras life, I admit to feeling a little disappointed. Where was the big grand goodbye? But what a cliffhanger Cathy Jackson leaves us with. With the feeling of 'faith' being an ever constant in this authors books, this story felt similar despite the completely different direction from the bloom series with some amazing and refreshing new characters to enjoy and savour.

Very excited about this new series and I can't wait to see what the future holds for this pair who sadly, have too much in common. "God works in mysterious ways" very much sums up this book. I can't wait to see where this pair are taken next on their journey.

Five Coffees has all the elements of a great love story and will make you feel an array of emotions.

With Tavora we feel what it’s like to be alone and lonely. Tavora is alone after her husband passed away. She is lonely because she misses him and has chosen to isolate herself from others. She has built a wall around herself and has not been able to move on. She holds on to his last touch. With Luke we feel conflict. Luke is conflicted by his feelings for Tavora. He is happily married to the woman he loves and has a child he adores. Sacrifice, you give up something you really want for those you love.

Tavora and Luke dance around their feelings and declare them. They get to know each other and share what they have not shared with others. They become comfortable with each other and develop a comfortable friendship. This story is beautiful, happy and sad. It all blends in at the right time and makes it feel so very real. This story took my heart and made me fall in love. I am looking forward to the continuation.

Great read!

Five Coffees is a journey filled with emotional and spiritual essence along with romance. Luke is an actor who needs to get into the role of a lawyer, but finds it difficult. This time he has been given an ultimatum of week in which he decides to get to know the people of the town more. The town in which they are shooting is small, simple, nothing too lavish.

This town also happens to be the home of Tavora, our female protagonist. Her heart belongs to only one person, her late husband, Jim. She has created walls around her so strong that it is difficult for her to be around people at time especially in confined spaces.

I have loved how the author has created this connection between Luke and Tavora by bringing them together. Luke and Tavora start off as being friends, where Luke remains faithful to his wife and son, and where Tavora helps him as being his guide.

But things change. (Not giving any spoilers).

The end of Book One is funny and I absolutely loved it. It is a conversation between Luke and Aisling about Tavora *wink wink*

The most important aspect of this story for me was the writing part. I think I have never felt at ease with third person as much as I did with this story. I've always dreamed of reading such story set in a small town, and it even had a huge library which was a plus point for me. I felt this story to be authentic in it's nature.

The flow. The flow of the story brings out the perfect emotions the readers need to feel. You don't have that break or bumper where you need to go back to understand something. Everything falls into place on it's own time. Well, except for Luke and Tavora's meeting

I personally recommend this book.

Interesting!

I got GOODBYE DIABETES because the author and writer are family members of a good friend of mine. I wasn't looking for a book on diabetes, but this book is well written and very interesting! I have seen diabetes reversed twice and know that it can be done. Everyone should read this book because diabetes is the cause of a host of other health problems. If you need recipes or cookbook suggestions I can suggest some that are in line with the principles of this book. Excellent book!

This book and its author must have been inspired by God. What I learned in this book I hadn't learned in the ten years of being diagnosed with diabetes. Long story short, my diabetes reading went from 320 (I tested this morning) to 128, five days after reading this book! Thank God!! I've been more energized, active, and feeling so much better. If you do as told in the book I truly believe your diabetes can be reversed as it says. I couldn't put the book down.

Goodbye Diabetes is a MUST for every Diabetic--AND the rest of us Too!

Every diabetic needs to read this book from cover to cover! If you are not diabetic, you may have prediabetes--and not know it (as of 2006 40% in U.S. over 20 had diabetes or prediabetes and 75% of those 75 or older!), you need to read this book. If you are not prediabetic and live the American lifestyle--you also need to read this book, because you are most likely on your way to becoming a prediabetic. This book is "cutting edge" to say the least and includes much information you have never heard before about diabetes, how to measure your body's response to carbohydrate intake, and how to use "lifestyle medicine" to prevent and reverse diabetes. Dr. Youngberg is so comprehensive in this book, I was astounded. If you like a scientific approach (there must be over 500 study references in the Endnotes) presented in an easy to understand manner, this book is for you. Lots of practical case studies are given from his clinic in California.

The book is beautiful, high quality, well written and edited, and I will be gifting it to family and friends. I recommend it highly!
